Cornelia has undergone a total transformation. Her beautiful body is strong and well built, but she needed some TLC to bring her back to her elegant beauty.
This page is dedicated to show how she is today.
Our Westsail 42 was built in 1974, number 24 out of 116 built by Westsail. We are the third owner, having purchased her in 2009. Her hull was solid and strong but she was in pretty rough condition and Barry Spanier basically did a “renewal with upgrades”.
Barry is 6’4” so SV Cornelia needed
to have the head room while
standing and sleeping, both
of which is easily achieved.
She comfortably sleeps five:-
one stern cabin,
one double birth
and one single berth.
She has 29 functioning ports
(that don’t leak), 21 are cast bronze.
The deck has been completely refinished, painted and has Raptor Deck (www.raptordeck.com),
a closed cell hydrophobic, UV resistant, non-skid surface.
It is comfortable to walk and sit on.
The rail caps were removed and replaced with teak and oiled.
The chain plates have been replaced. Life lines replaced with 7mm Dinema.
29 functioning cabin openings:
21 ¼” cast bronze ports,
3 Lemar ports.
7 Stern cabin ports,
11 main galley ports,
